The journey of the festival.

It is amazing how time flys when you are doing things you are passionate about.

I founded the Texas Whiskey Festival three years ago, September 2017, and I still feel like the new guy. It has been an incredible journey filled with learning and humbling moments.

I quickly realized I didn't know a damn thing about the industry or whiskey (Man, I thought I knew, though.) I know more now, but I never want to stop learning.

I still remember the end of the first festival in 2018. Standing on the 2nd floor of the Bob Bullock History Museum watching Asleep at the Wheel perform and looking at a sold-out venue and going, holy crap, we did it. What a feeling!

The second festival was even better with a new venue, more distilleries, and people. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and the people were happy. That same feeling swept over me toward the end of the evening.

The 3rd Annual Festival happened the week before the lockdown, so I am lucky and grateful I could share that experience with everyone. A week later and there would not have been a festival.

The pandemic has been hard on many businesses and industries, including our distilleries and events. It has and is a virtual event palooza. I am not knocking them because they serve as an excellent way for us to stay connected. Like most people, I am ready to get back together.

The past three years have been incredible, and I am looking forward to the next 3, 6, 9, and more years.

With that being said, my partners and I are working diligently on bringing you an in-person 4th Annual Texas Whiskey Festival this spring. Yes, I have received tons of feedback and suggestions, and yes, it is all being considered. Well, maybe not all of it. I don't need more vodka because it is a whiskey festival. I digress.

As I reflect on one of the decisions that changed the course of my life, I want to say thank you.

Thank you to all distilleries, distillers, brand reps, businesses, and vendors that have supported the festival. It has been amazing to see it grow.

Thank you to my wife, kids, family, business partners, and friends.
