Jack Daniel’s Eric Church Single Barrel Select tasting notes.

Jack Daniel's Distillery | Eric Church Single Barrel Select | Lynchburg, TN | $129.99.00* | 94 proof | NAS (at least 4 years old) | 80% corn, 8% rye, and 12% malted barley.

The whiskey.

Jack Daniel's is one of the largest whiskey brands in the world. It is available in almost every bar, airplane, golf course, and so on. It follows all the rules to be bourbon, but the brand prefers Tennessee Whiskey. Currently, there is no federal designation for Tennessee Whiskey. However, it is a distinct category among consumers and popular culture. Charcoal filtering, known as the Lincoln County process, is what differentiates Tennessee Whiskey. The single barrel select program is not new, and many stores carry the series. What makes this whiskey unique is that Eric Church picked it based on his flavor preference. Along with cool packaging.

The taste.

The beautiful honey amber color sucks you in like a catchy melody. Vanilla carries the tune in your nose, with beats of oak and rose petal. The choir sings sweet vanilla, char tang, and oak. The flavors fade in a smooth, subtle sweet spice.

The takeaway.

Is that the more I sip on this whiskey, the more I like it. The notes I picked up recording the video are different than they are writing this blog. I am starting to pick up on the complexities of the whiskey. It is enjoyable but is it worth the $130 price tag is the ultimate question. If you are a Jack Daniel's fan, then yes, it is worth it. If you are not, then it may not be. The one thing you can not deny is it has a fantastic bottle.
