Texas Whiskey Festival Blend #5

Our 5th blend might be one our our most unique blends. An amazing process from start to finish. I worked with each distillery to pick a barrel we thought would something unique to the blend.

Distillers and owners from Modisett & Sons, Acre Distilling, Giant Texas Distillers, Crowded Barrel, and the Texas Whiskey Festival came together, broke into four teams, and created the best blend possible.

The four blends were mixed into bigger batches and rested for two weeks. The crews came back together for a blind tasting. In a unanimous decision a blend was chosen. It so happened to be mine (Jake’s & Mitch’s) this year.

50% Modisett & Sons – Malt

30% Acre Distilling – Malt

20% Giant Texas Distillers – Rye

Nose – vibrant herbal and botanical with a thread of earth deep notes. honey and cream with a final layer of waxy toasted walnuts

Palate – Dense wood oils and antique shop. Honey layered over walnut bitters.
